First off, I’m a business user using this for my company-issued laptop. Previous to this I was using a Dell USB-C dock that lasted 3-4 years before the peripheral USB ports started all dying on me.

This dock does not work natively, but rather you need to install drivers to get it to output a display onto your connected monitors. This is a drawback coming from Dell/HP docks that just work as soon as you plug them in. I needed to spend time with overseas tech support requesting permission from them to allow me to install drivers that I am downloading from the internet. This was a massive hassle since they use Display Link drivers you have to download from a third party website. At first the download popped up saying it was verified to Display Link (UK). I had to explain to my company why they should allow me to install these drivers. They agreed, but then a second security popup came after the files were unpacked and ready to install, this time it said unverified and unknown signatures on the drivers and my IT team almost called off the install. If I ever need to format my computer or upgrade laptops, I will need to go through this again.

Once installed, setting up the monitors isn’t too big of a deal except for the fact that my monitors defaulted to 2k and just stayed as black screens. Going to display properties the setup window naturally went onto the blacked out monitors and I couldn’t even see the settings to switch them around. It took a lot of adjusting to get the setup window to display on my laptop screen. I had to systematically unplug the monitors I had already connected. Please note that the max this dock works at is dual 1080P. Anything higher than that just results in black screens. This is listed in the description so I’m not actually taking any stars off, but you should note that it may leave you with black screens when connected to higher resolution monitors requiring some troubleshooting.

The connection to your laptop is made via a standard USB-A connector that has an adapter that can convert it to a USB-C connection. I’ve added a picture of that connection. This will not charge your laptop while connected, and will still require a second cable to be run from your outlet to the laptop. The more I use this, the more I realize how much I miss the simplicity of connecting a single USB-C port and achieving charging and docking all-in-one with no other cables. In my opinion that’s an upgrade you would want for simplicity and organization as far as cable management.

The device is USB 3.0 rather than 3.1 so that equates to half the bandwidth. Some devices require 3.1 to work, so just make sure you check. Again, this is clearly advertised, but I’m just noting it.

The dock is of the standing variety, rather than a lay flat, and the lights are pretty bright. This can be slightly annoying when working at night. Overall the device is fine, and does its intended purpose, but I feel it fails at its price point. For just slightly more you can get a dual 2k dock, with native drivers, that has USB-C charging and only requires a single cord to be run to your laptop. The more I use this dock, the more I regret not spending an extra $20-40 to get all the features that would make me love using it. If you have very simple needs, and no desire to future proof your purchase, then maybe this will work for you. Keep in mind though, that if you’re spending 10 hours a day using this for work and may be using it for years, it’s probably worth spending a bit more for all the extra features.

Loved this docking station. Made it so easy to keep all of my peripherals plugged in while I took my laptop with me. But after about 6 months, the monitor stopped working. For some reason, it only worked when plugged directly into the laptop. Then, I noticed my lamp stopped working – this was plugged into one of the USB ports. I plugged it into another one and it worked fine. So slowly each port isn’t working! Of course, it is past the date where I can return it. So I bought another brand, much cheaper, and that one is working beautifully. Don’t waste your money on this product unless you want to buy a new one every 6 months!

Solid unit. Solid in terms of the unit itself and its funxtion. I had an OKX 12 in one and had some USB issues. Basically devices not found. Unknown devices, and driver issues.

For this unit, i have not had any. I did need to download some drivers but its not a big deal.. there are 2 hdmi video adapters whixh is awesome. Some adapters got the mixed hdmi and display port adapters but not this one.

It is kinda big but its not like youll be carrying this around.
FyI – my setup consists of dual monitors, MS surface pro, wireless dongle for keyboard and nouse combo, adapter for wireless headset, usb for webcam, usb for wacom tablet, and a usb cable for charging devices such as a phone.

All together this device is nice, I personally haven’t gotten it to work on my work laptop as after I received it, plugged it in, and it didn’t work. Opened the instruction manual and it says first page must download displaylink. I specifically bought this device because it did not state in any detail that displaylink needed to be downloaded to the computer in order to use it. I cannot download to a company laptop without permission. This was a huge draw back for me as now I will be going I to training on a tiny screen. Know that if you are limited to what you can put on your system, this IS NOT the device for you.

I am an IT professional and my wife and I needed a dock that we could use on her Dell and on my Surface Laptop 2.

This thing is truly plug and play. All I had to do was adjust the display options and now we need only plug in a USB cable and our particular power supply cable when switching our computers in our home office.

EXACTLY what I was looking for, and now we have a 3-display setup for each of our laptops. Wonderful!
